Dental Technology

Dental Technology

At OC Advanced Periodontics, sophisticated dental technology is a vital part of our practice. Our dentist, Dr. Patrick Huston, continuously upgrades and stays well-informed of the latest trends in dental technologies. With the modern technologies at our office, we can detect delicate signs of much more severe oral health issues so they can be promptly addressed. Dental technology has made it possible to deliver the best clinical procedures with less pain and fewer office visits.

Technology at OC Advanced Periodontics

Digital X-Ray

Dr. Patrick Huston uses digital X-rays for quick and better diagnoses. Digital photography directly converts the transmitted X-ray photons into digital images. It employs multiple state detectors with image display and computer processing. Digital technology allows us to view X-ray images on the spot in seconds. Based on the results, we recommend the appropriate dental care. Digital X-rays are safe and time-saving, besides reducing your radiation exposure by up to ninety percent. With improved image clarity, we can diagnose accurately and treat the conditions promptly.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral scanning technology enables us to generate fast, accurate digital impressions of your oral structures. Patients will no longer need to have impression material used on them. With this technology, they can have their oral impressions captured virtually. The scanner flashes a light source onto the affected area. The images are taken by imaging sensors and processed by scanning software, producing a 3D surface model. You will be able to instantly view the possible look of your smile.

Laser Gum Treatment

Dental lasers play an increasingly vital role in periodontics, delivering fast, simple, and highly effective treatments. Lasers can be employed in procedures such as gingivoplasty, closed curettage, gum pigmentation removal, crown lengthening, and many more. They are perfect tools for performing a wide range of laser-assisted periodontal procedures in a minimally invasive and economical manner.

Diode Lasers

Diode laser allows us to efficiently spot the presence of decay in the biting surface of a tooth. The diode laser measures laser fluorescence within the enamel structure of a tooth. As a result, we can evaluate the surface dental cavities and healthy tooth structure in their initial stages. Prompt discovery of tooth decay will enable us to treat the problem before it advances further, requiring expensive and invasive restorations.

Guided Dental Implant Surgery

The accurate placement of dental implants is critical to ensure the long-term success of this treatment. Dental technology allows us to use imaging that can enhance all steps of the implant placement process, including the drilling and insertion of dental implants.
